The popular duo Øystein Bache and Rune Gokstad have been taking TV viewers on a series of unconventional journeys around the world since 2011. Nine seasons have aired so far on NRK1. In 2024, a new adventure with Team Bachstad will unfold as they travel the length of Japan!
Now, the audience has the opportunity to experience Team Bachstad "live"! In collaboration with NRK, a talk show invites the audience to join a one-and-a-half-hour journey in real life, filled with humor, film clips, and stories that didn’t make it into the programs.
Their nine seasons on NRK began with a journey in a vintage fire truck to Mongolia. In season two, they crossed India in an auto rickshaw. Then, they crossed the South American continent in a well-used car!
In season four, they traveled from south to north in Finland on two tiny cargo mopeds. The fifth season was spent in Indochina in a decommissioned Land Cruiser that the military was donating to Norwegian People's Aid in Cambodia.
In season six, they headed east. In a 34-foot motorboat, they sailed on rivers from St. Petersburg through Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine, across the Black Sea, with Istanbul as their goal. In season seven, they once again traveled by water, visiting several islands in the Caribbean.
The COVID-19 pandemic halted international travel in 2020, so they traveled the length of Norway in an electric mail van. The latest season began in Portugal and was intended to end in Vladivostok in eastern Russia—however, shortly after departure, the war in Ukraine began, and their travel route had to be abruptly changed.
