About
Norwegian power trio Bokassa stands out by blending riffs and grooves into a captivating Molotov Rocktail of punk, hardcore, metal, and rock. The band has conquered global stages, performing at major festivals and touring across Europe and Norway, sharing the stage with notable names such as Judas Priest, Mastodon, Zebrahead, Baroness, and, of course, Metallica. In 2019, they were personally selected by Lars Ulrich to support Metallica and Ghost on an extensive summer stadium tour throughout Europe, the UK, and Russia. The legendary drummer hailed them as "his favorite new band" and described them as "absolutely cool" after hearing their debut album, Divide & Conquer.
Bokassa's intense debut album received global acclaim, making it onto several "Best of" lists in 2017. Metal Hammer UK dubbed it one of the best debuts of the year, including it in their top 100 list. Their sophomore album, Crimson Riders, followed in 2019, and in 2020, they released the digital EP "Live At The BBC" from their BBC Radio 1 live session at the iconic Maida Vale studio in London, earning a nomination for a Norwegian Grammy as "Breakthrough of the Year." In 2021, the band received the prestigious Bendiksenprisen from their fellow Norwegian musicians. Their third album, "Molotov Rocktail," released on Napalm Records the same year, reached the 18th spot on the Norwegian album charts and garnered praise from Kerrang, Rock Hard, and Metal Hammer, with the latter describing it as "...the most fun stoner record since Monster Magnet's Powertrip."
In August 2023, the band signed with Norway's Indie Recordings (home to Satyricon, Cult Of Luna, Wardruna) and released the single "Garden of Heathen," featuring none other than Lou Koller from NY hardcore legends, Sick Of It All on guest vocals. This winter, the band is set to tour with alternative metal legends Therapy? across 23 dates in Europe and the UK, with their new album expected to arrive in early 2024.
