Apocalyptica, et finsk cello metal-band, ble berømt for sin unike tolkning av Metallicas musikk. Gruppen ble dannet i 1993, og begynte med å spille favorittbandets sanger på celloer, og ga ut debutalbumet "Plays Metallica by Four Cellos" i 1996. Uventet suksess førte til internasjonal anerkjennelse, med millioner av solgte album og globale turneer.
